Gracie Turner- 1st Reflection

Writer's picture: Gracie TurnerGracie Turner

I have never flown or traveled internationally until the start of the Human Dignity documentary filming. My crew and I are spending ten days in Germany and Poland, filming and following a group of students as they travel to the historical sites of the Holocaust. It feels different to film this horrific event because the reality of it really sets in and festers in your mind. This project isn’t a fictional short film, which I am more used to piecing together. The documentary is the Jewish community’s history and our crew and eventually, our audience, is viewing it through a camera lens. Being able to go into a concentration camp and see what Jews had to endure has been the toughest part of the trip, but find memories were made while working through those difficult emotions.
